New Features in Samsung Galaxy S8: A Complete Redesign
Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8+: Home Button Removed:
As promised or should I say as the leaks suggested, Samsung has withdrawn the home button from the phone making the screen much bigger in size. The initial size of the screen which was around 5.8 inches has now become wider thanks to the inside embedding of the phone button, which the user can activate with a simple touch.
Other than that user can enjoy an immersive widescreen display of 5.8 inches in Samsung S8 and 6.2 inches in Samsung S8 Plus.
Multi-frame image processing Camera for Better Picture Quality:
Another important feature added by the company is the addition of multi-frame image processing function in the rear camera of both the handsets, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.
The functionality will allow the smartphones to capture three images simultaneously, and merge them together to make a true-color quality picture.
It will decrease dependence on additional photo editing software and post-capture image processing.
A new Assistant at your service named ‘Bixby’
If you were bored with Google Now and prayed for a better virtual assistant (VA), then your wish might have come true. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus include ‘Bixby’ a new Artificially Intelligent (AI) assistant by Samsung.
Unlike most other VAs, Bixby can use a camera to identify surroundings, Bluetooth for file receiving, and other sensors in the same way – This makes me think what will happen if a hacker gets access to Samsung Galaxy S8.
Iris, Facial Recognition & Fingerprint Sensor:
Samsung has moved the fingerprint sensor to the back of the device, alongside the camera. Further, it has added iris and facial recognition into the front camera, allowing a user to sign into the phone quickly.
Difference between Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+:
Both the smartphones Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus are almost same in specifications, which is a down point for the Samsung Series. They offer the same screen design and picture quality. The physical size is, of course, different for Samsung Galaxy S8, which has a 0.4-inch smaller screen size than the Galaxy S8 Plus.
The camera in both the smartphones is also having 12 megapixels (rear) and 8 megapixels (front).

Samsung Unveils 360 Degree Camera:
At the occasion, Samsung has also unveiled a new 4K 360-degree camera called Gear 360. The camera can take 4K quality 360-degree pictures and videos. The videos can be recorded at 24fps through an 8.4 megapixel CMOS sensor camera. It also supports the fisheye lens.
Samsung Gear 360 has a battery capacity of 1,160 mAh. For connecting to smartphone and computing devices, it also supports Wifi, Bluetooth, and a USB 2.0 port.
It can also convert 360-degree videos into standard ones using editing tools, photo effects, and various filters.
The standalone Samsung Gear 360-degree camera can be connected to most smartphones – from iPhone SE to Samsung Galaxy S8+.
Samsung Dex:
Samsung has also launched a new device with Samsung S8 and S8+ known as Samsung Desktop Exchange or Dex docking station. The smartphone docking station is compatible with Samsung S8 and will project the device’s screen on a desktop computer.
The specialized docking station ‘DeX’ supports a monitor HDMI cable, keyboard, mouse and two USB ports and is shaped like a candle holder. It wouldn’t be wrong to call it an Android motherboard.
Moreover, the device can be connected to any computer having an HDMI cable support. The drawback of the device is that it will only project the applications available on the smartphone on the screen. All apps that are not made for desktop computers, wide screen smartphones will not be able to work properly.
Samsung has also partnered with VMWare to launch virtual Windows desktop apps on DeX, and this will require an internet connection.

Samsung has finally made a remarkable comeback at least on media, after the Galaxy S7 episode that raised doubts on its devices. Though it is still earlier to say anything, but people already have constructed high hopes for the new devices and smartphones that Samsung has launched on March 29.
