Can I Travel to Thailand From Pakistan in 2022? Thailand Travel Restrictions for Pakistani Residents *Updated 1 July 2022*

Known as the “land of smiles,” Thailand is all about its pristine beaches, delicious food, marvellous Buddha Temples and statues, and unique wildlife exploration. Every traveller to this small yet enchanting country can expect to find something special.

Pakistani residents are allowed entry into the kingdom. However, the entry comes with some additional requirements. Here are the latest entry requirements you should be aware of while travelling from Pakistan to Thailand.

Can I travel to Thailand from Pakistan?

Yes, you can. Thailand has now fully reopened for tourism, and effective 1 July 2022, travellers, including Thai nationals and foreigners, are NO longer required to register for the Thailand Pass scheme.

Furthermore, the US$10,000 (TBH 3,56,830) health insurance requirement for foreign travellers to enter the country has also been scrapped.

From 1 July 2022, travellers are only required to present either a certificate of vaccination, a negative PCR test or a professional ATK test result within 72 hours of travel. Thailand’s airport authorities will also conduct random checks on arriving passengers at international airports and land border checkpoints (in 22 provinces).

Travellers have simply been categorised under the two new schemes as follows:

Vaccinated travellers

Pre-arrival requirements

Vaccinated travellers must have the following documents for entering Thailand:

  • A valid passport, or a border pass for arrivals via border checkpoints.
  • A Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination
    • Everyone 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travelling to Thailand.
    • Travellers 5-17 years of age travelling to Thailand unaccompanied must get vaccinated with at least 1 dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travelling to Thailand. Those travelling with parents are exempt from this requirement.

On-arrival requirements

Upon arrival in Thailand, all travellers must undergo entry screening including a body temperature check, and present the required documents to the Immigration/Health Control officer to carry out the checks.

The vaccinated travellers will then be allowed entry and are free to go anywhere in the kingdom.

Please note that for arrivals by land using a border pass, they will be allowed a stay of no longer than 3 days within the specified areas only.

During the stay

While in Thailand, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, or not fully vaccinated travellers are advised by authorities to strictly follow the health and safety standards. Travellers who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms should get tested. If testing positive, they must get the appropriate medical treatment.

Unvaccinated travellers

Pre-arrival requirements

Unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated travellers must have the following documents for entering Thailand:

  • A valid passport, or a border pass for arrivals via border checkpoints.

On-arrival requirements

Upon arriving in Thailand, all travellers must undergo entry screening including a body temperature check, and present the required documents to the Immigration/Health Control officer to carry out the checks.

Unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated travellers who have proof of a negative result from an RT-PCR test or professional ATK within 72 hours of travel will be allowed entry and are free to go anywhere in the kingdom.

The unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated travellers without a negative test result within 72 hours of travel is required to follow the public health instructions and guidelines as deemed appropriate by the Health Control officer at the point of arrival.

Please note that all expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the travellers.

During the stay

Vaccination criteria

According to the MoPH, travellers are considered fully vaccinated if:

  • They get their second dose of a two-dose vaccine no less than 14 days before their travel date to Thailand.
  • They get a single-dose vaccine no less than 14 days before their travel date to Thailand.
  • In the case of mix-and-match vaccines, travellers should get their second dose of a different vaccine within the recommended interval of the first vaccine no less than 14 days before their travel date to Thailand.

Vaccines currently approved in Thailand for travel are:

  • CoronaVac (Sinovac) – two doses needed / second dose after 2-4 weeks
  • AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria, Covishield) – two doses needed / second dose after 4-12 weeks
  • Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, Tozinameran (INN)) – two doses needed / second dose after 3 week
  • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) – first dose needed
  • Moderna (Spikevax) – two doses needed / second dose after 4 weeks
  • COVILO (Sinopharm, Hayat-Vax) – two doses needed / second dose after 3-4 weeks
  • Sputnik V – two doses needed / second dose after 3 weeks
  • Covaxin – two doses needed / second dose after 4 weeks
  • Novavax (Nuvaxovid) / Covovax – two doses needed / second dose after 3 weeks
  • Medigen – two doses needed / second dose after 4 weeks
  • TURKOVAC / ERUCOV-VAC – two doses needed / second dose after 4 weeks
  • Sputnik Light – one dose needed
  • CansinoBio (Ad5-nCov / Convidecia) – first dose needed.
